Hollywood actress Vicky Jeudy to receive MPAH 2016 Honorary Award on November 6, 2016Vote
MPAH is pleased to announce that Hollywood Actress Vicky Jeudy from NETFLIX Original comedy-drama hit series, Orange Is The New Black will receive the MPAH 2016 Honorary Award on November 6, 2016 at the John Hancock Hall in Boston, MA.
Actress Vicky Jeudy is best known for her breakout role on the American comedy-drama hit series, Orange is the New Black. Vicky plays Janae Watson, a former high school track star, who after one wrong turn becomes an inmate at Litchfield Penitentiary. In 2015, Vicky and the entire cast were awarded the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in addition to two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2015 and 2016.
Vicky got her start in the entertainment world by competing in beauty pageants. She was a top 25 Semifinalist in the Miss NY USA competition, where she took home the title of Miss Photogenic. After gaining her BA in theatre studies, her interest shifted from pageants to acting. Vicky landed her first roles in small independent films and made several guest appearances on the popular TV series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
Born and raised in Queens, New York and of Haitian descent, Vicky is an activist at heart. She believes that as an artist, she should express her world views through each of her character portrayals. When not on set, Vicky can be seen empowering the youth in her urban community and giving back to her native country of Haiti through work with Sean Penn’s JPHRO and The Clinton Foundation.
